This is me

This is me when I was about 5 - pants up around my ears as was de rigeur in those colonial days.

I'm at a place called Ngomokarera which is a huge granite outcrop just outside of Harare. It's a magical spot - literally as the local Africans believed it has deep spirtual significance.

And this is me some years later; a peroxided surfer and absentee student - a stage when I was giving my parents nightmares.

I was given a car which I promptly painted much to my father's horror.

I became thus a target for the South African police who were sure that I must be carrying the University of Cape Town's drug supply.

I survived, became respectable (I think) and found myself up in Cairns, Australia where I can be seen on the fantastic beach close to my house. Only problem is that the occasional crocodile chooses to share the sand with you which can make swimming an unnerving business.

My Family

This is my lovely wife......

her name is Noriko, she's Japanese and she's a a dangerous lady with a kendo stick

This is us on our wedding day ........

me in a hakama and the good wife in full regalia. She was far from happy as it had taken 4 hours preparation to get ready.

Voila the kids.......

Satsuki - the older one - in the habitual mode of terrorising Maia - the younger. Now times have changed.

and Chateau Parker, Cairns.

Not much gardening going on here!!

My hobbies

 I like to play this.......

it's the djembe and hails from West Africa,
makes a ferocious noise and is used
for dance and drum sessions

.....and these......

Cuban congas for an altogether slinky
sound.

Not sure the neighbours like the way I keep entertained, but that's the way I do it!!
